Abstract:
To provide the manufacturing method of the lubricant additive, that can suppress occurrence of dirt that is difficult to clean in a reaction vessel after radical polymerization when a specific macromonomer is used as a raw material.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the lubricant additive comprises a polymerization step of copolymerizing two or more monomer components containing a macromonomer represented by the following formula (1) to obtain a copolymer, wherein a peroxide concentration after an average polymerization rate of the two or more monomer components is 80 mass% is 0.15 mass% or less with respect to a total amount of charged monomer components in the polymerization step (in the formula (1), Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and X represents an urethane bond (-NH-CO-O-), an urea bond (-NH-CO-NH-), an ester bond (-CO-O-), an amide bond (-NH-CO-), a sulfonate ester bond (-SO-O-), or sulfonamide bond (-SO-NH-), and Rrepresents a hydrocarbon group having an iodine value of 45 or less).SELECTED DRAWING: None
