Abstract:
To provide a light ray direction control element that achieves high transmittance.SOLUTION: The light ray direction control element includes: a first transparent substrate; a second transparent substrate that is arranged facing the first transparent substrate; a first conductive film pattern that is formed on a first surface facing the second transparent substrate of the first transparent substrate, and has an opening part; a second conductive film pattern that is formed on a second surface facing the first transparent substrate of the second transparent substrate, and has an opening part; an electrophoretic element that is sandwiched between the first conductive film pattern and the second conductive film pattern, and includes a shading electrophoretic element and a transmissivity dispersion medium; and a plurality of light transmitting areas that is arranged between the first transparent substrate and the second transparent substrate, is sandwiched between at least one part of the opening part of the first conductive film pattern and at least one part of the opening part of the second conductive film pattern, has a surface parallel with the first conductive film pattern and the second conductive film pattern, and has a lateral wall surrounded by the electrophoretic element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
