Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a syntactic foam type polymer composition and a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition.SOLUTION: The method satisfies the following a) to d): a) expandable microspheres are introduced into a matrix material to be mixed; b) the expandable microspheres expand; c) the temperature distribution in a mixer 1 is nonuniform in the plane perpendicular to the transportation direction; and d) a first surface 3 as the boundary of a mixing space 2 of the mixer 1 is kept at a sufficiently high temperature in the plane perpendicular to the transportation direction of the mixer 1, such that a microsphere-containing polymer composition reaches a temperature (T) sufficient for starting and continuing the expansion as long as the polymer composition comes in contact with the surface 3, while, in the same plane perpendicular to the transportation direction of the mixer 1, a second surface 4 as the boundary of the mixing space 2 of the mixer 1 is kept at a sufficiently low temperature, such that the microsphere-containing polymer composition does not reach a temperature (T) sufficient for starting and continuing the expansion as long as the polymer composition comes in contact with the surface 4.
