Abstract:

To provide a manufacturing method of a thin film, including liquid crystal molecules uniformly aligned in a single direction for a wide area on a substrate made of a material, such as silicon by a simple method and to efficiently utilize the same in an industrial field, such as an electronic device and a liquid crystal device.

The manufacturing method of the thin film of the liquid crystal molecules, aligned in a single direction, includes a step for applying the liquid crystal molecules on a substrate subjected to hydrophobic surface treatment; a step for increasing temperature of the coating layer under existence of a magnetic field so that the liquid crystal molecules have an isotropic phase; and a step for decreasing the temperature so that the liquid crystal molecules of the isotropic phase have a liquid crystal phase to form a columnar nano structural body of the liquid crystal molecules.
