Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of preventing generation of the burr of a root part of a tooth width end part and efficiently manufacturing a member when a tubular member having a rack used for a steering apparatus of an automobile is manufactured so that a section of a length of a steel tube stock is pressed to form a flatten part of an outer face periphery, at the state a rack forming die is brought into contact with the section flattened and is held, a mandrel is pushed into the steel tube, successive ironing is conducted.
SOLUTION: When a section of a length of the steel tube 3 is pressed to a flat shape, a flat part 31 is arranged at the width direction center part, as well as, inclined parts 32 lowered in the end part direction are arranged at its both sides. Further, at the time of starting ironing, the rack forming die is farther bitten therein from the contact position with the flattened part of the steel tube.
