PURPOSE: To permit the position of guide holes to be finely adjusted according to the tubes in various shapes by a method wherein the guide holes through which to feed the material to be marked to a receiving support are made nearly eliotical in shape and a guide plate is so arranged as to be positioned in the longitudinal direction of the guide holes.

CONSTITUTION: A receiving support 60 is provided below a freely vertically rockable frame 20 having a plurality of type wheels 30 to receive the material to be marked, fed one at a time. A guide plate 65 consists of opposite side pieces 65a and a front connecting piece 65a in such a manner as to enclose the receiving support 60 therewith and an elongated hole 67 formed in the side piece 65a is engaged with a support shaft 61 fixed on the receiving support 60 in such a manner it is movable vertical and fixed thereto. The side piece 65a is provided with a guide hole 66 formed by a combination of an eliptical, preferably rectangular part 66a and a nearly eliptical part 66b. Therefore, different tubes having different outside diameters can be guided by adjusting the lower position of the guide plate 65 and matching the nearly eliptical part 66b of the guide hole 66 and the upper surface of the receiving support 60. The rectangular part 66a is used to feed a strip-like label on the receiving support 60.
