To improve the opening properties of a reinforcing fiber material and the impregnation properties of a matrix resin by a method in which a matrix resin of a thermoplastic synthetic resin material is fusion-bonded to the fiber material surface-treated with a sizing agent of a specified content into a continuous ribbon tape shape.
The roving of carbon fibers CF surface-treated at 0.1-0.5 wt.% of the content of a sizing agent based on an epoxy resin is used as a reinforcing fiber material 2, which is arranged, opened, and spread to be 6-8 mm in width. Next, both sides of the material 2 are coated with nylon films 3, 3 of a thermoplastic synthetic resin material as a matrix resin, and both end fringe parts 3a, 3a of the films 3, 3 are fusion-bonded and sealed (a) not to protrude from the fiber material 2 to obtain a material 1 for FRTP molding which is formed in the shape of a ribbon tape.
