Title:
MECHANISM FOR DETECTING INK IN LIQUID CHAMBER OF INK JET RECORDER AND INK JET RECORDER MOUNTING THAT MECHANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3530683
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the detecting time while lessening burden of the space or the cost on a recording head or a printer body by arranging a plurality of ink detection electrodes on the heater board in a liquid chamber of a mechanism for detecting ink in the liquid chamber.
SOLUTION: Ink from an ink supply tube 2 is passed on the bottom face of a liquid chamber 1, i.e., a heater board 4, and fed to a nozzle 3. The ink is then heated and blown by feeding a current to a heating element 6 located at the forward end of the heater board 4. Consequently, pressure in the nozzle 3 is varied and an ink droplet is jetted thus making a record on a recording medium. Ink detection electrodes 8a, 8b are formed on the surface of the heater board 4 along with a circuit for driving the heating element 6. From the viewpoint of deterioration of the electrodes 8a, 8b and chemical change of the ink, a detection voltage is preferably applied only when the ink in the liquid chamber 1 is detected and the electrodes are discharged after detecting the ink.
