Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a pharmaceutical composition that contains a novel compound, concanamycin and is useful for prevention and treatment of the diseases responding to inhibition of osteoclast proton pump. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition contains a compound of formula I R1 is OH, 2-hydroxyethoxy, a 1-4C alkoxy, a 1-4C alkanoyloxy, a halogen, amino, azide, keto, p-nitrobenzenesulfonyl, pyranyloxy of formula II [X is formula III (R3 is OH, a 1-4C alkanoyloxy, organic sulfonyloxy), formula IV; R4 is OH, a 1-4C alkanoyloxy, carbamoyloxy]; R2 is H, hydroperoxy, OH, a 1-4C alkoxy; Y is formula V (R5 is OH, a 1-4C alkanoyloxy), formula VI; R6 and R7 are each H, methyl}, typically 21-deoxy-concanolide A, 21,23-dideoxy-23-epi- azideconcanolide A. The novel compounds among the compounds of formula I are prepared by using concanamycin A, B and C as a starting substance.
