To obtain a simple label printer, with which characters can be put in a picture by a method wherein a melt heat transfer ink sheet cartridge for printing on a sheet carrying an image and a melt heat transfer ink sheet cartridge for printing on a label are set exchangeably.
This printer is equipped with a cartridge installing part 5, in which a melt heat transfer ink sheet cartridge for printing on a sheet and a melt heat transfer ink sheet cartridge for printing on a label can be set exchangeably. By setting the cartridge for printing on the sheet in the cartridge installing part 5, printing is carried out in the image carrying surface side of a photo-print. In order to carry out a label printing, the cartridge, in which a label sheet feed roll and an ink sheet feed roll are housed, is set in the cartridge installing part 5. As a result, a simple label printer, with which characters can be put in a picture, can be obtained.
