Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the cracking of the boundary part of a bonded part and a non-bonded part in a metal carrier partially subjected to diffusion bonding in the axial direction of a honeycomb element.
CONSTITUTION: In a metal carrier for an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst wherein at least a flat plate and a corrugated plate are partially subjected to diffusion bonding to be integrated, an intermediate bonded part 15 having bonding strength lower than that of a bonded part 13 is provided to the boundary part of the bonded part 13 and non-bonded part 14 of the metal carrier to gradually change bonding strength. Since no stress is concentrated to the boundary part of the bonded part 13 and the non-bonded part 14, the cracking of a honeycomb element is not generated.
