Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal halide lamp having no harmful influence on light distribution even though a holding body made of a metal material is used when an arc tube is fixed on a metal cap.
SOLUTION: An arc tube 1 is provided with an arc part 1a having a pair of electrodes 2 inside it, and sealing parts 1b respectively and continuously provided at both ends of this arc part 1a. The arc tube 1 is inserted into a hole 8 formed in a brownish metal cap 7, while it is fixed on the metal cap 7 by a holding body 9 made of metal. The color of the holding body 9 is a brown based color being dark color. A dark colored external lead wire 3 is used as an external lead wire, a dark colored power supply wire 3b is connected with this external lead wire 3, and a dark colored insulating sleeve 12 is provided to this power supply wire 3b.
