Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a metathesis polymerization catalyst solution which has a good shelf stability, generates less smoke during molding, and has a reduced unpleasant odor by using a solvent comprising a cyclic olefin capable of undergo ing metathesis polymerization.
SOLUTION: The catalyst solution is prepared by reacting 1mol of WOCl4 and/or MoOCl3 with 1-3mol of an ether compound and 0-3mol of a phenol compound and using a solvent comprising a cyclic olefin capable of undergoing metathesis polymerization. A monomer solution A which comprises a cyclic olefin capable of undergoing metathesis polymerization and containing the catalyst component of the catalyst solution is mixed with a monomer solution B which comprises a cyclic olefin capable of undergoing metathesis polymerization and containing an alkylaluminum compound serving as an activator component of a metathesis polymerization catalyst system, and the mixture is injected into a die to effect polymerization and crosslinking reactions therein, thus giving a crosslinked olefin metathesis polymer composition.
