PURPOSE: To read the displayed values of the integrating meters such as a power meter, a gas meter and water meter, etc., using the public line of a telephone.

CONSTITUTION: This meter inspector is provided with an input port 2 receiving a decimal number depending on the displayed values of plural columns of an integrating meter 1, a burst oscillator 3 being capable of converting this decimal number into the first column of a burst wave including a first super-low frequency component, a controller 5 transmitting the column of the burst wave from the burst oscillator 3 after it is connected to a public line 4 of a telephone and receives the preliminarily set prescribed column of the burst wave including a second super-low frequency component, and a notch filter 7 being connected between the public line 4 and a telephone set 6. As for the first and second super-low frequency components, 7 hertz or 49 hertz which is below 100 hertz evading the least common multiple of the frequency of ac power is used. Plural integrating meters 1 incoporating the input port 2 are provided, and at least two switching devices for signal switching are connected between these input ports 2 and the controller 5.
