Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for calibrating a forward axis of a vehicle accelerometer and relates to a smart traffic field. Specifically, on the basis of an actual slope in a route, acceleration data of three axes of an accelerometer in a vehicle, and a kinematics equation satisfied by acceleration when a vehicle is traveling on a slope, consistency is determined between a direction of a real time slope of a forward direction/a reverse direction of the three axes and a direction of the actual slope, and one of the three axes which has the highest consistency between the real time slope of a forward direction/a reverse direction and the actual slope in a first time zone is calibrated as the forward axis. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the forward axis of the vehicle accelerometer on the basis of the actual slope data for the route and travel data for the vehicle can be calibrated and it is unnecessary to depend on mark data of a vehicle supplier.
