PURPOSE: To make an intermediate container for coating material compact by adopting the constitution that at least either of first and second intermediate containers passes the opening of an insulation shell and the closed portion of the insulation shell is so displaced as to exist in a supply passage after the end of supply of coating material.
CONSTITUTION: When the coating material is supplied to the first intermediate container A, the opening 8 of the insulation shell 7 exists between an output pipe 1 and an inlet opening 6 and an outlet opening 5 facing the inlet opening 6 of the second intermediate container B is covered by insulation shell 7. An insulation shell 9 is positioned on the inlet opening 6 in order to enhance an insulation characteristic. Before the coating material is transferred from the intermediate container A to B, high voltage is impressed to the intermediate container A and its inlet opening 4 is shut off from the grounded outlet pipe 1 by the insulation shell 7. Then, the insulation shell 9 is rotated to the position apart from the inlet opening 6 simultaneously when the opening 8 of the insulation shell 7 comes to the underside of the outlet opening 5 of the intermediate container A and the passage is formed. This process is repeated as the coating material is consumed.
