Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a cooling and calibrating method and an apparatus for it for an extrusion molded article improved in cooling efficiency so as to reduce the quantity of energy required in cooling to a large extent as compared with a conventional apparatus.

CONSTITUTION: Respective regions are partitioned by partition walls 34, 36 within a housing and a molded article 7 is passed through the openings having the cross-sectional contour 33 of the molded article 7 formed to the partition walls to be moved and the respective regions are divided into first and second chambers under the molded article by arranging a vertical web 44 extending in an extruding direction on a housing substrate 43 and the chambers of the respective regions are zigzag arranged in a plan view with respect to the corresponding chambers of the adjacent regions and the channels allowing the second chambers of the respective regions to communicate with the first chambers of the adjacent regions are arranged. Partial vacuums becoming high in vacuum degree successively in the extruding direction are formed to the respective regions by a suction means and a cooling medium fed by a pump successively flows through the region groups by vacuum action and overflows from the first chambers to the second chambers in the respective regions so as to exceed the molded article.
