To provide a method and an apparatus for gravure-engraving a plate cylinder, which enables not only the securement of a large ink capacity but also the high-quality detail reproduction of a text and the contour of an image to be printed.
This method for gravure-engraving the text and the image on the plate cylinder by using an electronic gravure machine is used for practicing a gravure method using a line gravure method, a gravure method using a vibration gravure method, and a gravure process for the plate cylinder. In this case, a classical gravure method, which is well known heretofore in itself, is used, and the apparatus for gravure-engraving the plate cylinder can be driven or constituted by using a heretofore known gravure apparatus. Thus, the apparatus is prevented from substantially exceeding a heretofore known plate-cylinder gravure-engraving apparatus in terms of complexity and operability, and the cost of the apparatus is prevented from at least dramatically exceeding that of the heretofore well-known apparatus.
