Abstract:
To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an optical fiber assembly capable of preventing an optical fiber from a breakage that occurs due to a foreign matter present between a guide roller and a coated optical fiber, an optical fiber ribbon or an optical fiber ribbon unit, when manufacturing an optical fiber assembly.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical fiber assembly has a feeding process of feeding a coated optical fiber, an optical fiber ribbon or an optical fiber ribbon unit, while guiding with one guide roller or more. The guide roller has a Young's modulus of 1000 MPa or less on a contact surface having a contact with the coated optical fiber, the optical fiber ribbon or the optical fiber ribbon unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
