PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive optical element excellent in optical properties.
CONSTITUTION: Resin pellets 1 being an optical element molding material are supplied to the cavity surrounded by a upper mold 11, a lower mold 12 and a body mold 14 in the amt. corresponding to a predetermined wt. to be molded. Therefore, since the molding material is weighed by a necessary amt. to be thrown in the cavity to be molded, the waste of the material is eliminated. Since an arbitrary amt. of the pellets can be supplied into the cavity by a pellet supply device and can be held to proper temp. by the supply device until the time immediately before molding, no foaming is generated during molding. By applying surface treatment to the optical element molding material before molding, optical capacity is improved and stabilized.
