To provide a method and an apparatus for on-press imaging lithographic printing corresponding to a digital process for eliminating developing by preventing an adherence of ink and dust to a surface of a plate material when supplied with a plate and to provide a method and an apparatus for on-press imaging lithographic printing capable of printing many printed products of a clear image of high quality by a low-cost apparatus and a simple method.
The method for on-press imaging lithographic printing comprises the steps of mounting a plate material 9 on a plate cylinder 11 of a printer, directly forming an image by an ink jet method for discharging an oily ink by utilizing an electrostatic field based on a signal of image data on the material 9 to form a press plate, and subsequently lithographic printing the press plate by using the plate in its state. The apparatus for on-press imaging lithographic printing uses the method. In this case, before the material 9 is mounted on the cylinder 11, a hydrophilizing liquid is given to a surface of the material 9, and a conveying passage of the plate material up to the plate cylinder is covered with covers 64a, 64b.
