Abstract:
To provide a method and apparatus for treating a metallic material by which the fining or amorphization of the metallic material can be attained and pollution control and cost reduction can also be attained.
This method has the following steps: a heating step where the metallic material 1 is heated to a temperature higher than its transformation point; a cooling step where liquid metal sodium 4 for cooling is brought into contact with the heated metallic material 1 to rapidly cool the metallic material 1 to a temperature lower than the transformation point. In the cooling step, the metallic material is cooled at a cooling velocity at which the structure of the metallic material can be fined.
