Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to calculate a suitable threshold even when a target to be recognized is blurred or the luminance of a background is slightly changed.
SOLUTION: The method is composed of a picture input process #1, a luminance data sampling process #2, a luminance profile preparing process #3 for rearranging luminance data stored in a luminance data storing means in the ascending order of luminance values, a luminance profile secondary differentiation process #4 for preparing a luminance data secondary differentiation table by secondarily differentiating the luminance data of the luminance profile by the data number of the luminance data, a zero crossing point detecting process #5 for detecting the data number of a zero crossing point on which a secondary differentiation value becomes zero from the table, and a threshold calculating process #6 for setting up the luminance data of the luminance profile corresponding to the data number of the zero crossing point as a threshold.
