A coating apparatus provided with a nozzle 1 provided with a nozzle passageway consisting of a guiding outlet 11 extending in a circular arc-like shape and with a definite gap width, a path part 12 extending from the guiding outlet 11 while the gap width is held and a guiding inlet 13 extending in a circular arc-like shape and with the definite gap width and a pressure forwarding means 2 for pressure-forwarding the highly viscous coating material into the nozzle 1 is used, and the nozzle 1 is turned upward to the underside of the metal sheet extending approximately in the horizontal direction from the lower part and the highly viscous coating material is jetted in a strip pattern toward the underside of the metal sheet by driving the pressure forwarding means 2 and the nozzle 1 is moved in parallel in the extending direction of the underside to coat the underside with the jetted highly viscous coating material in a strip form. It is possible by this means to coat the underside of the metal sheet with the highly viscous coating material without generating scattering and sagging down and with a uniform thickness.
