To provide a continuous casting method, which prevents blockage in a nozzle due to adhesion of oxides of rare earth elements onto the inner surface of the immersion nozzle.
This casting method comprises: in a process of continuously casting a molten steel containing 0.005-0.1 mass% rare earth elements, previously performing preliminary deoxidation with Si and Mn; subsequently adding such an amount of Al as the Al content in the molten steel becomes 0.01 mass% or more, to deoxidize it; then adding one or two of Ca and Mg into the molten steel in such a single or total amount as the content of Ca and/or Mg in the molten steel becomes 0.001 mass% or more; then adding the rare earth elements to it; and continuously casting the molten steel. If an alumina graphite refractory having a low SiO2 content, an aluminous refractory, and a ZrO2-CaO-C-based refractory are employed for a material composing the inner surface of the immersion nozzle, the effect of preventing adhesion of the above oxides is further improved.
