PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of processing and to remove dangerousness generating miscorrection by allowing a user to previously input specifications for forming a table to detect/correct errors in terms.

CONSTITUTION: This word error correcting system is constituted of a CPU 101, a main storage device 102 and a control device 103 and a key word error allowable information 105, an error retrieving key word table 106 and an error allowance 107 are stored in an external storage device 104. In the case of executing term analysis, a user specifies the degree of allowance in the spelling error of terms. When a term of misspelling included within an error allowable range specified by a user is detected at the time of term analysis, the original spelling can be retrieved based upon the error allowable information in the term table 106.
