Abstract:

To decompose the subject compound containing vanadium in fossil fuels by pre-culturing microorganisms of the genus Pseudomonas having porphyrin-based compound-decomposing abilities in a meat-extract-containing medium and using the bacterial cells as spawns.

This method for decomposing porphyrin-based compounds can be used for decomposing porphyrin metal complexes included in fossil fuels such as petroleum, etc., by pre-culturing microorganisms [e.g. Pseudomonas azelaica YA-1 (FERM P-15356), etc.], in a meat extract-containing medium and decomposing vanadium-containing porphyrin-based compounds comprising vanadium octaethylporphyrin or its metal complex, etc., using the bacterial cells as spawns, thus, the objective porphyrin-based compounds are decomposed under a mild condition by bringing removals, etc., of metals causing to catalyst poisonings in petroleum refining processes to be easy.
