To provide a method and device for creating a skeleton model of a three-dimensional shape, which is capable of accurately setting characteristic portions of a target object on the basis of three-dimensional shape data of the target object and to provide a method and device for measuring dimensions of the three-dimensional shape using the skeleton model.
A control unit 1 of a skeleton model creation device includes: a data acquisition part 10 which acquires three-dimensional shape data of a target object surface; a normalization processing part 11 which calculates a main axis by main-component analysis of the acquired three-dimensional shape data and performs coordinate transformation processing so that the main axis agrees with a preliminarily set coordinate axis direction; a profile extraction part 12 which extracts profile shape data corresponding to profiles of the target shape viewed from a plurality of different directions, by using the three-dimensional shape data subjected to normalization processing; a center axis extraction part 13 which subjects respective pieces of extracted profile shape data to center axis conversion processing to extract center axis data expressed by a set of points; and a skeleton creation part 14 which creates skeleton model data where a plurality of pieces of extracted center axis data are associated with each other by feature points.
