Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DETECTING ABNORMALITY OF ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06101594
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect malfunctioning of an injection nozzle or an injection pump.

CONSTITUTION: A solenoid valve 48 communicates or shuts off a fuel pump with or from an injection pump. The solenoid valve drive circuit 72 of an abnormality detection device 70 supplies an exciting current to the solenoid valve 48 and inputs a current supply signal to a sitting time computing circuit 80. In a sitting detecting portion 74, a minimum point computing circuit 78 detects the minimum point of the exciting current after a peak from the exciting current of the solenoid valve 48 which is detected by an exciting current detection circuit 76, and inputs a sitting detection signal to the sitting time computing circuit 80. The sitting time computing circuit 80 calculates the time from when the supply of the exciting current to the solenoid valve 48 is started until the sitting detection signal is input. A sitting time difference computing circuit 82 computes the difference in sitting time between the successive two-motion periods of the solenoid valve 48 on the basis of the output signal of the sitting time computing circuit 80. An abnormality recognition circuit 84 compares the difference in sitting time computed by the sitting time difference computing circuit 82 with a threshold stored in threshold setting 86, thereby determining whether an injection nozzle or the injection is normal or abnormal.
