To provide a density unevenness evaluation technology for printers, capable of surely and easily finding a concentrated part of the density unevenness by the frequency which is to serve as the object of evaluation.
The method for evaluating the density unevenness for printers includes measuring density of a test pattern recorded in a recording medium with fixed target density by driving a print engine based on image data for test print; performing Fourier transformation on spatial frequency data in a predetermined scanning direction of the test pattern obtained through density measurement; performing inverse-Fourier transformation on partial Fourier transform data of a plurality of specific frequency bands in the Fourier transform data obtained through the Fourier transformation and selecting a section with large density fluctuations as a section for density unevenness evaluation from pieces of specific band spatial frequency data for each specific frequency band obtained through the inverse-Fourier transformation.
