PURPOSE: To reproduce and display the image of a subject simply stereoscopically by dividing a video image of the subject into plural pictures in response to the distance from an image pickup camera to each point of the subject and reproducing and displaying the images onto each of laminates of plural thin film liquid crystals of a display section respectively.

CONSTITUTION: A subject 1 is irradiated with plural electromagnetic wave beams to measure a distance from an image pickup camera 2 to each point of the subject 1 based on a reflecting wave of the electromagnetic wave beams from the subject 1. The obtained distance and the subject video image are converted respectively into a distance signal and a video signal and they are sent from a transmitter 4 with synchronization. The distance signal and the video signal sent from the transmitter 4 are given to a receiver 5, in which the video image is divided into plural pictures corresponding to the distance from the image pickup camera 2 to each point of the subject 1 and the pictures are reproduced and displayed onto each liquid crystal thin film of a liquid crystal thin film layer 3a. Thus, the picture is simply reproduced stereoscopically and visually recognized as a natural body.
