PURPOSE: To obtain a method and device for image processing capable of performing various kinds of adjacent image processing in various kinds of modes and of being comprised flexibly.

CONSTITUTION: Adjacent picture element data is calculated from image data outputted by a route control means 1 which controls the generation of the route of input data by an adjacent picture element calculation means 2, and the adjacent image processing is executed on the data by an adjacent picture element arithmetic means 3, and it is inputted to a selection output means 5. This method and device is provided with such feature that the data is fed back to the route control means 1 at need afterwards, and the processing is repeated again and the adjacent image processing is performed in parallel by outputting the various kinds of image data from the route control means 1. etc., thereby, the various kinds of adjacent image processing can be performed flexibly.
