Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a cross winding package in a delivery direction without physically bringing the same into contact with a package drive roller.SOLUTION: The invention relates to: a method for operating workstations of a textile machine for manufacturing a cross winding package, in which each workstation 2 comprises a package frame 18, a package drive roller 6, a device 13 for raising a cross winding package 11, and a brake device 23, and after yarn breakage, the cross winding package is raised to separate from the package drive roller, is braked by the brake device and is driven in a delivery direction while a needle thread is taken up from the cross winding package surface; and the textile machine performing the method. According to the invention, after braking, the cross winding package is driven in the delivery direction with compressed air provided to the brake device, and until the needle thread is captured by a suction nozzle 35, is kept raised to separate from the package drive roller.
