Abstract:
To provide a method and device for providing transient event protection for a circuit.SOLUTION: A clamp circuit 200 includes an upper portion 218. A first power supply circuit supplies a first reference voltage Vdd. The upper portion guides energy to the first power supply circuit from a signal node 204 in response to a transient event occurring due to a lower voltage than a second reference voltage Vss in the signal node. The clamp circuit further includes a lower portion 202. The lower portion includes a transistor 210. A collector terminal of the transistor is prevented from having the lower voltage than a second reference voltage. The second power supply circuit supplies the second reference voltage, and the second reference voltage is lower than the first reference voltage. The lower portion guides energy to the second power supply circuit from the signal node in response to the transient event occurring due to a higher voltage than the first reference voltage in the signal node.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2A
