Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-accuracy evaluating method by suppressing the generation of not only the translation motion error but also pitching motion error of a displacement detector in a roll-profile evaluating method.
SOLUTION: In the evaluating method for determining the amount of the ruggedness of a surface by measuring the ruggedness of the surface of a work roll over the entire length by moving a mounting table of the displacement detector in the axial direction of the work roll and arithmetically processing the train of combined measured value data obtained by the difference of the obtained measured value, the work roll right after changing the roll having the reference profile whose shape is already known or during the 1st rolling of a metal plate using the roll-profile evaluating method by which the displacement detector is moved in the axial direction of the roll, the pitching motion error when the mounting table of displacement detectors is moved is approximately determined from the difference between this measured value and the reference profile and the pitching motion error is corrected with respect to the measured value during rolling the metal plate on and after.
