PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a punching device providing high productivity and a beautiful hole with excellent durability in a thick and flexible sheet which is made of thermoplastic material and different from rigid material without any particular subsequent machining.
SOLUTION: This punching device comprises: a table 102 formed with a hole 108 having a required hole diameter and corresponding to a punching position 100 of the sheet T; a metallic punching rod 110 which is rotatable at a high speed and reciprocates between the inside of the hole 108 and above the table 102 with its rotational center line along the center line of the hole 108; and a sheet pressing member 115 disposed above the table 102, having a through hole 115a for the punching rod 110 and being capable of coming into contact with and departing from the table surface. The punching rod 110 comprises a circular section having a smooth peripheral surface and comprising at least a part of a circular section without a blade and has a required clearance between the diameter of the hole 108 or the through hole 115a and the diameter of the punching rod 110. The punching rod is rotated at the high speed and pressed against the sheet T, so that its frictional heat causes the sheet to melt and form the beautiful hole.
