PURPOSE: To use a robot device without requiring operator's skill and to avoid damaging a connector device by grinding all the optical fibers constituting an array to a common flat surface precisely vertical to the center axes of them.
CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber 15 is supported within a combining and supporting member 16 provided with first and second grooves parallel with a center axis on an opposite face, a first opening part and a first projection 27 are formed within a holder member 21 and a second projection 27 is provided by opposing the first projection 27 to form a cantilever spring member 23. A combined fiber supporting member is inserted to the opening part so as to engage the first projection 27 with the first groove of the member 16 and the second projection 27 with the second groove. The member member 16 is fixed to the position and one edge of the member 16 is forcedly pressed to a grinding wheel with bias force for grinding.
