Title:
METHOD OF LOCATING LONGITUDINAL POSITION OF WHEELS OF VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2009145350
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a method of locating a position with very high responsiveness and reliability.

A means for measuring vibration generated from rotation of an engine and stressing corresponding wheel is incorporated in each electronic module. In a preliminary phase for determining a type of each vehicle, a spectral analysis of signals is performed over at least one rotation of an engine while the engine is operating, wherein the signals indicate vibration in accordance with frequencies supplied by the respective measurement means of a wheel mounted on a front end and of a wheel mounted on a rear end, so as to establish a criterion for differentiating the signals based on a frequency offset between the signals. A procedure is started for locating the longitudinal position of the wheels by analyzing the signals indicating an amplitude change of the vibration in accordance with the frequency supplied by a different measurement means at at least one same time point t while the engine is operating, and deducing information concerning the longitudinal position of each wheel from the frequency offset between the signals.
