Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing (1) 1234yf(2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene)f, which is a known compound for a foaming agent, a coolant, an aerosol propellant, a heat transfer medium, a fire extinguisher or other applications and is known to have ozone depletion performance of zero ODE and extremely low global warming potential (GWP) of 150 or less, starting from pentachloropropane.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method of 1234yf including steps of (a) and (b): (a) is a catalytic reaction by contacting 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane and/or 1,1,2,2,3-pentachloropropane with HF in presence of a catalyst consisting of Ni-Cr to prepare 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, and (b) is a catalytic reaction for changing the resulting 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene to 1234yf at a temperature of at least 30°C higher than the step (a).
