Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical conversion element which operates stably over a long period of time, exhibits a long service life, has excellent workability, is compact lightweight, and low-cost.
SOLUTION: When conducting a manufacturing method for single crystalline lithium tetraborate where molten polycrystalline lithium tetraborate (Li2B4O7) is pulled up in a prescribed orientation by a Czochralski method, a single crystalline Li2B4O7 is manufactured under the following conditions in which the temperature gradient between the surface of a molten liquid and 10 mm right over the surface is 30°C-200°C/cm, the temperature gradient above 10 mm is 5°C-50°C/cm, the pulling up speed is 0.1 mm-2 mm/h, the refractive index variation is ≤10-5/mm, and the dislocation density is about ≤1×103 pieces/cm2.
