The method for manufacturing the molded article designed for the reducing rotary hearth is characterized by charging a powdery raw iron material, a powdery solid reducing agent, free water, and materials including an organic-based binder or an inorganic-based binder, as needed, into a kneader, and mixing them so that the weight ratio of the free water to the total weight of the raw material can be 2% or more but less than 8%, (preferably more than 4% but less than 8%), and molding the mixture into elliptic briquettes by using a double-roll molding machine.
