Abstract:

To manufacture an optical waveguide easily, speedily, inexpensively and precisely even in a complicated structure.

The manufacturing method includes: a process of obtaining a basic mold by setting a photosetting resin by a photo-molding method; a process of forming a recess in a lower clad layer by pressuring the basic mold to the lower clad layer which is laminated on one side of a base plate and which is made of a thermoplastic resin, at a temperature not lower than the glass transition temperature and not higher than the thermal cracking temperature of the thermoplastic resin, and by separating the mold; a process of forming a core layer by filling in the recess a macromolecular resin having a refractive index higher than that of the thermoplastic resin; and a process of laminating an upper clad layer composed of the thermoplastic resin, on the lower clad layer and the core layer.
