Abstract:

To provide an image forming element having a protective overcoat excellent in protecting characteristics.

The method for manufacturing a print with an image formed and having a water-proof overcoat includes the following steps. (a) An image forming element having a supporting body, at least one image accepting layer and at least one layer having lay-down of the following overcoat composition present on at least one image accepting layer is prepared. The overcoat composition contains water-dispersible latex particles containing an epoxy material having at least 1.5 epoxy groups in average per one molecule and having 0.01 to 5 μm average grain size and >20°C Tg, and hydrophilic polymers and the composition is applied at least by 0.54 g/m2 (50 mg/ft2). (b) A pictorial image based on dyes or pigments is formed in the image accepting layer by using an ink jet method or a developing agent. (c) The overcoat is melted at a temperature over 100°C to make the overcoat waterproof in the final product.
