Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a silica composite membrane having excellent thermal stability by a soaking-rolling method.
SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the silica composite membrane is performed by carrying out a series of coating processes of rolling the surface of a porous supporting body with silica xerogel to primarily modify and after secondarily modifying using γ-alumina by the soaking-rolling method, applying a surface coating material on a part of the modified supporting body surface where pores are present by the soaking-rolling method, drying and firing to form a fine surface coating layer of the coating material on the part of the supporting body where the pores are present to give an effect to improve the thermal stability.
