Title:
METHOD FOR PREVENTING CORROSION AND CONTAMINATION OF STEEL STRUCTURE SUNK UNDER SEA WATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61221383
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent both corrosion and contamination effectively and perma nently, by arranging electrodes made of copper (alloy) as anode to structure as cathode to pass electricity therethrough, and dissolving copper ion into sea water.

CONSTITUTION: Copper or copper alloy is sprayed to shell plate of marine structural body such as a ship body 1. The electrodes 2 made4 of strip shaped copper or copper alloy are attached insulatedly to the part of the body 1 sunk in a sea water 3. DC is conducted between the body 1 as cathode and the electrodes 2 as anode to prevent the body cathodically. Simultaneously, copper ion dissolved from copper electrode is absorbed to the body 1, as the result, adhesion and growth of sea water organism at the body 1, etc. are suppressed.
