Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of calcium sulfate-based scales by incorporating a phosphinic acid derivative shown by a specified formula, 1- hydroxyethylidene-1 and 1-diphosphonic acid into the agent as the effective component.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphonic acid derivative (component A) shown by formula I ((R is hydrogen or alkali metal atom, R' is the group shown by formula II or III (R2 is hydrogen or alkali metal atom) and (m+n)=4 to 20) and the 1- hydroxyethylidene-1 and 1-diphosphonic acid (component B) are incorporated as the effective component to a calcium sulfate-based agent for preventing generation of scales. The ratio of the components A and B to HEDP is controlled so that a remarkable synergistic scaling preventing effect is produced, and the weight ratio of A to B is ordinarily adjusted to (9:1) to (4:6). When used, the agent is dissolved into a mixture of water and a hydrophilic org. solvent and diluted, and the total amt. of components A and B to be added is preferably controlled to 1-100mg/l.
