PURPOSE: To improve the quality and productivity of an ingot by disposing a splash preventive plate which is rounded in the surface against which the flow of a molten metal collides onto a molten metal inflow port in the bottom of a casting mold.
CONSTITUTION: The splash preventive plate 6 is disposed to the inflow port 5 of a molding board 1 prior to the start of casting of a bottom pouring ingot making method. The rounded surface having adequate curvature is formed to the surface of the plate 6 against which the ejection flow of the molten metal collides. The molten metal flow ejected from the inflow port 5 of the molding board 1 collides against the rounded surface of the plate 6 and flows laterally around the rounded surface when the casting is started by using the plate 6. The force acting on the rounded surface is centripetal and even if the plate 6 is raised, the molten metal flow is not shifted laterally and therefore, the ejection flow can be continuously received by the rounded surface. Since the splashing of the ingot is completely prevented, the quality and productivity are improved.
