Title:
METHOD FOR PREVENTING TROUBLE IN ALUMINUM BRASS PIPE AS SEAWATER PASSAGE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3398572
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably prevent the fouling of an aluminum brass pipe as a seawater passage with oceanic life as well as to prevent the corrosion, in particular pitting corrosion of the pipe without blocking the formation of an anticorrosive coating film by iron ions.
SOLUTION: In order to prevent the corrosion of an aluminum brass pipe as a seawater passage and the fouling of the pipe with oceanic life, iron ions or an iron ion feeding compd. is continuously fed to seawater at 0.005-0.05 mg/l concn. (expressed in terms of iron ions) and hydrogen peroxide or a hydrogen peroxide feeding compd. is also fed to the seawater at 0.1-1/5 mg/l concn. (expressed in terms of hydrogen peroxide) for 14-20 hr per one day.
