To provide a method for producing an aliphatic carboxylic acid compound from a corresponding aliphatic nitrile compound in a high yield without requiring a separation operation of a catalyst, by using a simple and industrial treating operation and substantially without accompanying byproduction of an inorganic salt: and to provide a method for producing an aliphatic polybasic carboxylic acid compound in a high yield from an aliphatic polyvalent nitrile compound while reducing side reactions such as polymerization and decomposition.
The method for producing the aliphatic carboxylic acid compound comprises subjecting the corresponding aliphatic nitrile compound to hydrolysis in the coexistence of water, or an aqueous solution of ammonia and/or amine at 100-450°C, and removing the ammonia and/or amine with the water from the reaction system at 100-450°C.
