Abstract:
To produce chlorothiol formate from a mercaptan and phosgene in high efficiency.
Chlorothiol formate is produced by reacting a mercaptan with phosgene in an organic solvent in the presence of a carboxylic amide while supplying the mercaptan and phosgene to the reaction system. The organic solvent is preferably an aromatic hydrocarbon. The method is preferable for the production of an alkenyl chlorothiol formate by using an alkenyl mercaptan as the mercaptan.
